Terms of Service
Rules for using Specys

1. Agreement
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern access to and use of Specys at specys.com (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Specys.
2. The Service
Specys lets people showcase PC hardware setups, browse a shared product catalog, follow others, join or create teams, write product reviews, and use related social features. Specys is not an online shop: we do not sell hardware through the Service, and catalog data may be incomplete or outdated.
3. Accounts
You sign in through Discord OAuth. You must keep your Discord account secure and not share access in a way that violates these Terms.
You must be allowed to use the Service under applicable law. We may refuse, suspend, or terminate accounts that abuse the Service, impersonate others, spam, harass, or break the law. Staff may also use allowlists/beta lists to limit sign-in during private testing.
4. Usernames & profiles
Public profiles live at /u/your-username. Usernames must follow the format rules shown in Settings. Renames are limited (e.g. once every 30 days) to reduce abuse. We may reclaim or change usernames that infringe rights, are reserved, or are used to mislead.
5. User content
You retain ownership of content you submit (photos, bios, notes, reviews, team materials, product suggestions, EQ text presets, etc.). You grant Specys a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, display, and process that content as needed to operate and improve the Service.
You must not upload unlawful, infringing, hateful, pornographic involving minors, malware, or otherwise harmful material. EQ presets must be freely shareable text files you are allowed to distribute — no executables or payloads. You must have the rights to content you post. We may remove content, limit features, or suspend accounts when needed for safety, abuse, or legal compliance.
6. Catalog, suggestions & reviews
Product suggestions are reviewed before publication when the workflow requires it. We may edit, merge, reject, or moderate catalog entries and reviews. Reviews must be honest and not spam or commercial abuse. Specys does not endorse third-party products mentioned by users.
7. Teams & Pros
Teams and Pro badges may require staff review. Creating a team or requesting Pro status does not guarantee approval. Team managers must only invite people they are allowed to contact. Team pages and rosters are public when approved. If a team has no remaining active members, it may be deleted automatically.
8. Acceptable use
Do not disrupt the Service, scrape aggressively, bypass rate limits, attempt to access other users' private data, reverse-engineer for abuse, or run automation that harms availability or other users. Uploads, suggestions, and sensitive actions may be rate-limited.
9. Intellectual property
Specys branding, UI, and software (excluding user content and third-party marks) are owned by the Specys operator or its licensors. Product names and logos belong to their respective owners and are used for identification only.
10. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, or that catalog or user-generated content is accurate or complete.
11. Liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Specys and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or loss of profits, data, or goodwill arising from use of the Service. Liability for intent, gross negligence, injury to life, body or health, and any rights that cannot be limited under mandatory consumer protection law remains unaffected. If you use Specys as a consumer in the EU/EEA, statutory rights apply in full.
12. Termination
You may stop using Specys at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these Terms or to protect the Service or other users. Provisions that by nature should survive (e.g. licenses already granted for hosted content, liability limits, governing law) continue after termination.
13. Changes
We may update these Terms. The “Last updated” date will change. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance where permitted by law. For material changes we may also notify signed-in users when practical.
14. Community Marketplace
Specys may host a community Marketplace for private “for sale” and “wanted” listings. Specys does not sell the listed goods, take payment, provide escrow, issue shipping labels, or mediate disputes. Agreements are solely between users.
Contact happens through the Discord account linked in Specys. That does not make Specys a party to the transaction, and it does not mean Specys is legally uninvolved as the host of listings, images, location region, and reports. Specys does not guarantee sellers, products, payment, or delivery.
You must follow the Marketplace rules (including prohibited items and no external checkout links). We may hide or remove listings and revoke marketplace access. Reports and moderation actions are logged.

16. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding conflict-of-law rules, unless mandatory consumer protection law in your country of residence requires otherwise. Courts at the operator's place of business have jurisdiction where legally permitted; consumers may also bring claims in their place of residence where required by law.
